General Description
For both experienced and new employees, at all levels, to be able to understand and apply basic financial management skills and skills in collecting, interpreting and analysisng data.

Seven five hour modules or combinations of modules.

Methodology
The theory and skills will be presented in a lecture, workshop and discussion format. Syndicate exercises and case studies will be used to facilitate articulation. The seventh and final module is the assessment module. The modules will be presented in a flexible delivery mode to best suit the business at the point of delivery.

Assessment
At the conclusion of modules one to six, project work will be set in the form of assignments. The assignments will be relative to the subject matter of the completed module and the topics addressed will relate to actual financial management issues that within the workplace.
At the conclusion of module one a major assignment will be provided to be undertaken and presented in module seven.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand the importance of financial management and its impact on decision making both in the workplace and in the participants personal lives.
- Use effective business tools to understand and interpret operational data and financial data and the flow of money in the business.
- Describe the purpose of the balance sheet, the profit and loss statement, effective budgeting and business forecasting.
- Understanding basic accounting and taxation principles.
- Manage costs to maximise profit.
