Training Profile
In Australia's fast-growing and highly competitive transport sector, the task of finding, keeping and developing skilled managers and staff is a significant challenge.
At Mc Phee Transport, a division of TNT, the process of developing managers and staff has been fostered an innovative training pathway.
The company identified a need to develop training focused on finance for managers. These include sales, operational and service managers in various divisions across the company.
After a review of the training needs and requirements, Dynamic Training Institute (DTI) was selected to provide a customised training program.
The program was launched and has been delivered in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
DTI was responsible for delivering the seven financial modules. On average, training modules are held every four weeks in each location with modules taking one day, usually delivered at an off-site training venue.
Innovative training techniques were used to facilitate learning and simplify the many financial terms and formulas used in the modern business world. One such method was the use of Optimist Pro financial modeling and diagnostic software. Participants regularly used the software to analyse performance trends, perform ‘what-if’ scenarios and goal seek on performance measures.
The training was supported with work-related assessment projects between modules that assisted participants to integrate the program studies. A major project commenced in module one and concluded in module seven. The project gave participants the opportunity to invest funds, monitor performance against set criteria and present findings using Microsoft Power Point slide presentations.
